You’re literally steps from the cathedral — I mean, the name gives it away — but what surprised me was how quiet the street actually is despite being so central. The entrance has that classic Andalusian charm without trying too hard to impress.

Location & Neighborhood

This is where Cathedral Suites really shines, and the numbers back it up — couples rate the location 9.5 out of 10, which makes total sense once you’re here. You can walk to the Picasso Museum in about three minutes, hit the main shopping streets without breaking a sweat, and there’s this fantastic little tapas bar called El Pimpi just around the corner that locals actually frequent. The Alcazaba fortress is right there too, so you’re not dealing with tourist bus commutes or expensive taxi rides. Actually, you’ll probably end up walking everywhere because everything worth seeing is within a few blocks.

The rooms live up to the “suites” name — they’re more spacious than you’d expect from a three-star place in such a prime location. Mine had a separate sitting area with a small kitchenette, which came in handy for storing those amazing olives and jamón I couldn’t resist buying at the Mercado Central. The décor is clean and modern without being sterile, though don’t expect cutting-edge design. What I appreciated most was the air conditioning that actually worked (crucial in Málaga summers) and blackout curtains that let you sleep in after those inevitable late Spanish dinners.

Practical Considerations

Here’s what you need to know — the staff speaks decent English, which helps when you’re trying to figure out the best route to the beach or need restaurant recommendations. The building is historic, so there’s no elevator, but most rooms are only one or two flights up. WiFi works well throughout, and there’s a small common area where you can plan your day with actual maps and brochures. They don’t have a full restaurant, but honestly, with this location you’d be crazy to eat hotel food anyway when you’ve got some of Málaga’s best restaurants literally outside your door.

Cathedral Suites gets the fundamentals right — it’s clean, well-located, and reasonably priced for what you get in this part of the city. The location score of 9.3 tells the whole story, really. You’re paying for the address more than fancy amenities, and that trade-off makes perfect sense here. I’ve stayed at fancier places in Málaga, but I always found myself wishing I was closer to the action. Here, you wake up in the middle of everything that matters, and that’s worth more than a fancy lobby or room service menu you’ll never use.

  The apartment it's old and it has only one bathroom . It int he city center so that is a big plus.
