Here’s where this three-star gem really shines — the location is absolutely spot-on. El Candado is one of those neighborhoods that locals love but tourists often miss, sitting right between Málaga’s city center and the eastern beaches. You’re actually staying in a proper residential area where Spanish families live, which means real bakeries, local bars, and that authentic neighborhood feel. The beach is literally a short walk away, and I mean the good beaches — not the crowded tourist strips. Couples seem to get this particularly well (they rate the location 8.7), probably because it feels more like staying in a local apartment than a typical hotel zone.

The Space

The studio itself is exactly what you’d expect from a well-maintained apartment conversion. It’s not huge, but it’s thoughtfully laid out with everything you actually need — a proper kitchenette, comfortable sleeping area, and decent bathroom. The eighth-floor position means you get some nice views, and honestly, having that little kitchen makes such a difference when you want to grab fresh ingredients from the local market or just make coffee the way you like it. The whole setup feels more like borrowing a friend’s place than staying in a hotel room.

Getting Around

What I really appreciated was how easy it is to get around from here. You’re close enough to walk into Málaga’s historic center when you want that city energy, but far enough out to escape the tourist crowds when you don’t. The bus connections are solid, and if you’re renting a car, parking in this area is actually manageable — something you definitely can’t say about the city center. The nearby Pedregalejo area has some of the best seafood restaurants in Málaga, the kind of places where locals go for weekend lunches.

The 8.6 rating makes perfect sense once you spend a few days here. It’s not trying to be something it’s not — just a well-located, comfortable base that lets you experience Málaga like a temporary resident rather than a tourist.   I liked the neighborhood very much. The apartment is on the 8th floor and you can see people playing tennis and swimming inbetween beautiful parks full of palm trees and plants. It's close to El Palo beach where the sea water (for us at the time) was incredibly clean. The view is absolutely astonishing. You have a 90-120 degree view if you stand in the corner of the apartment where the widows are: SEA VIEW! Shops are nearby, a Mercadona is 7 minutes on foot and a Carrefour is just 3 minutes away. The neighbors in the building are really kind. We had just enough cooking utensil to cook a dinner, most were in great condition.
  Lastly, Sharon was very kind and she greeted us with tipps and infos which were valuable so much, we could contact her via WhatsApp and she helped us.
