Halcyon Days designer apartments by Ana Locking Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Halcyon Days designer apartments by Ana Locking on Calle Puerta del Mar, you immediately know this isn’t your typical hotel. The building has this sleek, contemporary vibe that stands out beautifully against the historic backdrop of Málaga Centro. I mean, when a Spanish fashion designer puts their name on a property, you expect something special — and honestly, this four-star place delivers on that promise from the moment you step inside.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s what I love about the location — you’re literally in the heart of everything, but it doesn’t feel touristy or overwhelming. The Picasso Museum is maybe a three-minute walk, and you can reach the Cathedral in about the same time. What’s really clever is how close you are to the port area without dealing with the cruise ship crowds. I noticed couples seem particularly drawn to this spot (apparently they rate the location almost perfect), and I get why — there’s something romantic about being able to wander through the old town’s narrow streets, then pop back to your stylish apartment whenever you need a break.
The Apartment Experience
These aren’t hotel rooms in the traditional sense — they’re proper designer spaces that feel like staying in a very chic friend’s place. Each unit has this minimalist aesthetic with warm touches that keep it from feeling cold or sterile. The beds are honestly incredible (I’m someone who usually struggles with hotel mattresses), and the whole setup makes you want to linger in the morning rather than rush out. You know what really impressed me? The attention to detail in the furnishings — everything feels intentional, from the lighting to the way the space flows.
Neighborhood Gems
Being right in Málaga Centro means you’re surrounded by some fantastic local spots that many visitors miss. There’s this amazing little tapas place called El Pimpi just around the corner — locals actually go there, which tells you something. The morning walks to grab coffee become part of the experience because you’re discovering new corners of the old town each day. The beach is close enough for an afternoon stroll, but you’re not dealing with the beachfront hotel scene, which can get pretty hectic during peak season.
Why Guests Love It
What sets this place apart is how it combines the independence of having your own space with the thoughtful design you’d expect from a boutique hotel. You get that “living like a local” feeling without sacrificing comfort or style. The location score speaks for itself — when you can walk to major attractions, great restaurants, and cultural sites within minutes, it changes how you experience a city. Plus, there’s something satisfying about staying somewhere that feels uniquely Spanish rather than generic international hotel chain territory.

This is our 3rd stay at Halcyon days, each time in a different apartment. Its location is perfect on a busy enough street but no sound coming into the apartments as they are double glazed, although in a beautiful old malagan building. We have however never stayed directly on the busy Alameda Principal, so not sure on the noise there. Also great and clear communication with host.
