Sol de Málaga Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Sol de Málaga feels like discovering a well-kept secret tucked away on the second floor of a charming building in Plaza Arriola. I’ll be honest — the entrance might catch you off guard since it’s not your typical street-level hotel lobby, but that’s actually part of its appeal. This three-star gem has a boutique feel that’s refreshingly intimate, and you can tell from the moment you arrive that someone really cares about the details here. The whole setup feels more like staying at a sophisticated friend’s place than a standard hotel.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s incredible about this spot? You’re literally in the beating heart of Málaga Centro, and I mean that in the best possible way. Plaza Arriola sits right where all the action happens — you can walk to the Cathedral in about three minutes, hit the Picasso Museum without breaking a sweat, and honestly, some of the city’s best tapas bars are practically on your doorstep. Couples absolutely love it here (they’ve rated the location 9.7, which makes total sense), and after spending time in the area, I get why. The narrow streets around the hotel buzz with that authentic Andalusian energy, but step inside and you’ve got your peaceful retreat.
The Accommodation Experience
The rooms at Sol de Málaga strike that perfect balance between comfort and character that’s surprisingly hard to find. Everything feels thoughtfully chosen rather than just functional — the kind of place where you actually want to hang out in your room for a bit before heading out to explore. The space is well-designed without feeling cramped, and there’s something about the atmosphere that just works. I mean, you’re not getting five-star opulence here, but what you do get is genuine charm and attention to detail that makes the experience feel special.
Exploring from Your Doorstep
Here’s where staying at Sol de Málaga really pays off — you’re positioned perfectly to experience Málaga like a local rather than a tourist. The famous Calle Larios shopping street is a quick stroll away, but more importantly, you’re surrounded by those little family-run restaurants and bars that don’t make it into most guidebooks. The port area with its weekend market is easily walkable, and if you’re into art (beyond the obvious Picasso connection), the contemporary galleries scattered through this part of the old town are worth discovering. You’ll find yourself coming back to the hotel throughout the day, which is actually pretty nice when you’re exploring a city on foot.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both central and serene — no small feat in a city center location. The 8.5 rating reflects what you experience: solid comfort, genuine hospitality, and that unbeatable location score of 9.6 that translates into real convenience every single day of your stay. It’s the kind of hotel that gets the fundamentals absolutely right without any unnecessary fuss, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want. Whether you’re planning romantic evenings wandering the old town or just want to soak up authentic Málaga life, Sol de Málaga gives you the perfect base to do it all.
Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in Malaga before car-free nights turn Calle Larios into an illuminated runway.

Location is OK. Quite close to train that goes from the airport and close to old town.
The flat itself is just big enough for 2 people. Fully equipped kitchen so you can prepare meals.Ferenc from Hungary (8/10)
The apartment is located next to the Malaga market and the corzo. The train station is about 15-20 minutes on foot. Malagueta beach is a 20-30 minute walk, all the way along a pleasant road (through a beautiful park next to the harbor). The airport transfer was punctual.

I had a great stay at Sol de Málaga and would always come back. The apartment is very central, close to the Mercado de Atarazanas, and everything was very clean. Especially Patrocinia made my stay great since she ensured a smooth check-in and helped with any question during my stay. Also, the agency can assist with day trips, airport transfers, bike rental or any other thing that might be useful during a trip in Málaga. I was traveling by myself and the size of the apartment is perfect for solo travellers or couples. For 3-4 people it might be a little small.
