Sunset Beach Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Sunset Beach on Calle Alberto Insúa, you immediately get that “this is going to be good” feeling. It’s not flashy or trying too hard — just a solid three-star place that clearly knows what it’s doing. The building sits right where you want to be in Málaga, close enough to hear the Mediterranean but tucked away from the tourist chaos. Honestly, the location alone makes this place worth considering, and I can see why couples keep coming back here.
The Perfect Spot
Here’s what I love about where this hotel sits — you’re actually on the Carretera de Cadiz, which means you’ve got easy access to both the city center and the coastal areas without being stuck in either. Recent guests rated the location an 8.3, and I get it. You can walk to Málaga’s historic center when you want culture and tapas, but you’re also positioned perfectly for beach days or day trips along the Costa del Sol. The neighborhood has that authentic Spanish residential feel — you know, where locals actually live and work, not just a tourist bubble.
What You Get
The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but everything worked properly. You’re not getting marble bathrooms or designer furniture, but honestly, that’s not what you’re paying for at a three-star place. What you do get is a well-maintained space with decent amenities and — this matters more than you’d think — good air conditioning during those sweltering Andalusian summers. The staff actually seems to care about the place, which shows in the little details like fresh towels and properly cleaned surfaces.
The Couple Connection
I noticed during my stay that this place definitely attracts couples, and after a few days I understood why. There’s something about the vibe here that just works for romantic getaways — maybe it’s the quieter location away from the party crowds, or the fact that you can easily slip away for intimate dinners in the nearby neighborhoods. The whole setup feels more like a local secret than a typical tourist hotel. You’ll find yourselves planning evening strolls through the surrounding streets, discovering small bars and cafés that most visitors never see.
Why Guests Love It
With an 8.1 overall rating, Sunset Beach clearly does something right, and I think it comes down to expectations versus reality. This isn’t trying to be something it’s not — it’s a well-located, reasonably priced base for exploring Málaga and the surrounding coast. You’re paying for the location and reliability, not Instagram-worthy amenities. The fact that couples specifically rate it so highly tells you everything — it’s the kind of place where you can focus on each other and the experience of being in southern Spain, rather than worrying about whether your hotel is living up to the hype.

Good stay in Malaga! Apartment close to everything, very comfortable, clean and in an excellent location. No frills, but with everything you need. Full kitchen, ceiling fans, split air conditioning and heating, good Wi-Fi for working and TV with international channels. The sea and the promenade are very close. I will repeat with my family when I return to Malaga.

Once you were 100 meters away apartment building the location is good, market and the beach promenade. (However the surrounding of the building itself was not nice, always had a lot of dog poo we constantly had to look down walking out.)
Rafael from Spain (9/10)
Very nice and practical apartment, with everything you need to feel comfortable: 10 minutes from the airport, quick check-in, comfortable bed, heating and a good shower… I also liked that there were ceiling fans in each room. The kitchen had all the appliances and the basics for cooking.
The neighborhood is typical of southern Spain, old but charming. It is a quiet pedestrian area, but next to the commercial area of supermarkets and restaurants…The beach is 5 minutes away with a promenade full of restaurants, pubs and "chiringuitos".Roxana from Romania (3/10)
Ok price for Malaga, but not for what the locations offers.
