Travelodge Málaga Airport Overview
First Impressions
I’ll be honest — Travelodge Málaga Airport isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and that’s actually refreshing. This three-star hotel sits right on Avenida de Velazquez, which means you’re practically next door to the airport but far enough away that you won’t hear planes all night. The building itself is modern and straightforward, with that clean Travelodge aesthetic that frequent travelers will recognize immediately. What struck me most was how many guests I overheard mentioning they’d stayed here before — turns out there’s a reason for all those repeat visitors.
Location & Getting Around
Being in Málaga means you’re perfectly positioned whether you’re catching an early flight or using this as your base to explore Andalusia. The Carretera de Cadiz location puts you about 10 minutes from the airport terminal, but here’s what’s clever — you’re also close enough to the city center that a quick taxi or bus ride gets you to the historic quarter. I mean, couples seem to really appreciate this setup, rating the location quite highly for romantic getaways. The parking situation is brilliant too — it’s completely free, which honestly saves you a fortune compared to airport parking rates.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a well-run Travelodge — clean, comfortable, and designed with travelers in mind. The beds are surprisingly good quality (I actually slept better than I expected), and there’s enough space to spread out your luggage without feeling cramped. You know what I appreciated most? The blackout curtains actually work, which is crucial when you’re dealing with jet lag or early morning flights. The bathroom is compact but functional, with a decent shower that has proper water pressure.
Breakfast & Dining
Now this is where things get interesting — the breakfast spread here is genuinely impressive for a three-star property. They’ve got everything from a full English breakfast to continental options, plus they actually cater to different dietary needs with vegetarian and gluten-free choices. The American-style options are there too, which is thoughtful for international guests. It’s served buffet-style, so you can take your time and fuel up properly before a long travel day. Honestly, the quality surprised me — it’s not just the usual sad hotel breakfast you sometimes get at airport properties.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is the reliability factor. You can tell the staff knows their guests are often stressed travelers dealing with flights and schedules, so everything runs smoothly. The fact that so many people come back speaks volumes — when you find a solid airport hotel that doesn’t break the bank but still delivers on the basics, you stick with it. The combination of free parking, decent breakfast, comfortable rooms, and that strategic location creates a package that just works. It’s not flashy, but sometimes you don’t need flashy — you just need a place that gets the fundamentals right.
Malaga’s hotels wrap travelers in beachfront hammocks, art-house cinemas, and concierge-led Caminito del Rey excursions.
