Villa Antumalal B&B Overview

First Impressions

When I first pulled up to Villa Antumalal B&B, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from this four-star property tucked away on Camino Santa Paula. The name itself is intriguing — Antumalal apparently comes from Mapuche origins, which feels wonderfully unexpected in southern Spain. What struck me immediately was how this place manages to feel both intimate and polished, like someone’s elegant family home that just happens to welcome guests. The free parking right on-site was actually a huge relief, especially after navigating Málaga’s narrow streets.

Location & Neighborhood

You know what’s clever about this spot? It’s positioned in the Este district where you get that authentic Málaga residential vibe without being stuck in the middle of nowhere. I mean, couples absolutely love it here — they’re rating the location nearly 9 out of 10, and I can see why. You’re close enough to reach the historic center in about 15 minutes by car, but far enough out that you actually get to breathe and enjoy some peace. The neighborhood has this lived-in quality where locals are walking their dogs and chatting with neighbors, which honestly beats staying in some touristy bubble.

The Room Experience

My room had that careful balance between B&B charm and modern comfort that’s surprisingly hard to pull off. The décor leans Mediterranean without going overboard on the typical Andalusian clichés — think clean lines with warm touches rather than an explosion of tiles and wrought iron. What I appreciated most was the attention to practical details: good lighting for reading, plenty of outlets, and windows that actually open properly for fresh air. The beds are genuinely comfortable, not just “fine for a few nights,” and the bathrooms feel updated without losing character.

Breakfast & Daily Rhythms

The buffet breakfast is where this place really shows its personality. It’s not some massive hotel spread, but rather a thoughtfully curated selection that changes slightly based on what’s good that day. Fresh local fruits, proper Spanish tortilla, decent coffee — the kind of meal that actually fuels your day rather than just filling space. I found myself lingering over breakfast longer than usual, partly because the dining area catches lovely morning light and partly because there’s no rush or pressure. The staff seems to understand that breakfast at a B&B should feel relaxed, almost leisurely.

Why Guests Love It

What keeps people coming back to Villa Antumalal isn’t any single standout feature — it’s how everything works together seamlessly. The 9.0 overall rating makes sense when you experience the place as a whole: thoughtful service without hovering, a location that feels authentically Spanish, and that rare quality where a property feels both professional and personal. Honestly, it’s the kind of place where you might extend your stay just because leaving feels unnecessarily complicated. For couples especially, there’s something about the intimate scale and genuine warmth that creates exactly the right atmosphere for a memorable trip to Málaga.

The location was very good. Gorgeous view on the Malaga port. Plenty space and very welcoming hostess. We managed easily find a spot for our car nearby for free, which is a big deal in Malaga.

  • Zuzana from United Kingdom (9/10)

I loved the beautiful location of this villa. It is a little bit out of the old town but me and my sister didn’t mind walking for 35 minutes or so especially after a big dinner 😁
The local beach that’s closest to the villa la Caletta is very nice and so much quieter than the main beach near the port la Malagetta.
The villa itself is beautifully decorated with lovely garden. Very quiet location at night. Although there was some building work going on from the morning around 8.30? But we didn’t mind that as we were off to have breakfast by then and off we went..
We had a sea view room which had a lovely little balcony with lovely view of the sea and the Malaga port.
On our arrival we were welcomed by the friendly owner Michele.
She was super helpful and friendly. She baked a different cake each day. The breakfast was delicious. Great choice. Coffee was really good too.
I would definitely stay here again.

  • Linda from United Kingdom (9/10)

Beautiful villa, lovely gardens with plenty of places to sit in sun or shade. Lovely room, spotlessly clean, good air con and a roomy fridge. Breakfast was very good too. It was great to cool off in the pool on a hot day.

Valentina did an amazing job taking care of us in her aunt and uncle's absence. It was a wonderful (and too short) stay. Valentina was delightful and very helpful. We hope to come back for a longer stay there in the future.
