Minty Stay – Studio La Merced Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Minty Stay – Studio La Merced, you immediately get that “hidden gem” feeling — it’s one of those places that feels way more special than its three-star rating suggests. The studio sits right on Calle Peña in a beautifully restored building, and honestly, the location alone makes this place worth considering. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of historic Málaga, surrounded by narrow cobblestone streets and that authentic Andalusian atmosphere you came here for.
The Studio Space
The room itself is smartly designed — they’ve made every square meter count without making it feel cramped. What I really appreciated was the thoughtful layout; the sleeping area flows naturally into a compact living space, and there’s actually enough storage for a week-long stay. The kitchenette is surprisingly well-equipped for such a small space, which is perfect if you want to grab fresh ingredients from the nearby Mercado de Atarazanas and whip up a quick meal. The whole place has this clean, minimalist vibe with pops of color that feel very Instagram-worthy, but not in an over-the-top way.
Location Magic
Here’s where this place really shines — the location is absolutely unbeatable. You’re a two-minute walk from the Cathedral and maybe five minutes from the Picasso Museum, but you’re tucked away on a quieter street so you don’t get the constant tourist foot traffic. I loved being able to step out in the morning and grab coffee at one of the local bars where actual malagueños have their breakfast. The Alcazaba is right there too, and you can easily walk to the port area when you want that seaside vibe.
Practical Perks
What really surprised me was the free parking — honestly, finding a place with parking in central Málaga is like striking gold. Most hotels in this area either don’t have it or charge you a fortune for it. The whole check-in process was smooth, and the hosts were genuinely helpful with local recommendations (they pointed me toward this amazing little tapas place that I never would have found otherwise). The Wi-Fi actually works well, which isn’t always a given in these older buildings, and the air conditioning keeps things comfortable even during those sweltering Andalusian afternoons.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something really special about staying in a place where couples consistently rate the location so highly — and after spending time here, I totally get it. You’re immersed in the real Málaga, not some sanitized tourist bubble. The combination of authentic neighborhood vibes, modern comfort, and that incredible walkability factor makes this studio feel like your own little slice of the city. Sure, it’s not huge, but when you’ve got all of historic Málaga as your backyard, who needs a massive apartment? It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like a temporary local rather than just another tourist passing through.
Exploring Malaga layers contemporary museums, Moorish castles, and palm gardens humming with flamenco.

Reviews of Minty Stay – Studio La Merced
Pasquale from Italy (9/10)
The apartment is small but perfect for a couple. It was clean, with everything needed for a vacation. The apartment is really fresh and we didn’t need air conditioning, we just used ceiling fan a few times, even if we were in August. The position is amazing, it was in the city center but not in the crowded streets of the city center. Super recommended!
Manuel from United States (9/10)
I love how it is close to restaurants, bars, and shops and in a very quiet neighborhood. It has everything you need and the bed is comfortable. There is a washing machine inside apt in case you need it and a coffee maker as well. I wish it brought instructions on how to use it, though.

Stefano from Italy (9/10)
